A healthier future for northern Nevada through community, collaboration, and advocacy

We are the Washoe Medical Alliance. Whether it’s through fun events, educational programs, or fundraising, we bring doctors, families, and local non-profits together to strengthen healthcare in our community and improve lives.

As a fully volunteer 501-C3 nonprofit organization, we are proud that 97% of our funds go directly to health-related community organizations in Washoe County. We are dedicated to promoting health in our community through:

  • Nursing and technical health professionals scholarships

  • Community-based health educational programs

  • Grants to other nonprofit organizations that promote healthy communities

  • Resources for our healthcare professionals and their families

Advocacy

We’re about collaboration.

In every legislative session there are bills introduced that are related to community health and medical practice. WMA — together with the Washoe County Medical Society, the Nevada State Medical Association, and the Alliance with the Nevada State Medical Association — works to educate members about the legislation and its potential impacts. The aim is to promote legislative and public health initiatives that advance the health of our community. Additionally, WMA members gain exposure to the legislative process, and participate in Physician’s Day at the Legislature every year.

Community

WMA looks to its community — both its members and neighbor organizations — to collaborate in order to meet the growing needs of the community and thrive in today’s challenging nonprofit environment. The objective is to amplify the positive impact that nonprofit organizations have in our community.

WMA continually assesses opportunities to support relevant healthcare-related organizations in their efforts. We’re determined to show up where we can be of the most help to improve the health of Washoe County!

The Friends of Washoe Medical Alliance Program

In the spirit of collaboration, WMA membership is extended to those in our community that share in the vision of a healthy Washoe County! We want to engage our nonprofit partners to foster a lasting relationship that is rooted in philanthropy and shared community health goals. The Friends of WMA program engages community partners to advance and amplify the good that we all do.
